Here is an interesting link i found to the official site of the Lebanese Jewish Community Council.
This website features the initiative that the current Lebanese Jewish Community Council is undertaking in order to preserve the remnants of the synagogue in Lebanon. It also tells the history of the Jewish Community in Lebanon that once numbered 22,000 (in 1960) and had witnessed a prosperous and peaceful living. Muslim, Jews and Christians were tightly integrated together. Families from different religious backgrounds had the same last names. In fact, the Lebanese Jews that i interviewed in New York had family names that could be considered either Muslim or Christian family names.
Thank you for your lift!
