A friend sent me this article on BBC: Lebanon ‘prison chic’ goes global.
The story of a line of bags and accessories called Sarah’s bag in Lebanon. The collection became a hit especially after Queen Rania of Jordan and Catherine De Neuve were spotted in public functions carrying a ‘Sarah’s bag’ bag.
The article tells the story of Sarah, the owner and founder of the brand. She started the project as a result of her thesis. And these bags and accessories are made with the help of women prisoners in Lebanon.
I have seen many items of the collection on a recent trip to Lebanon without really knowing the story behind them. Now, i look at them differently with appreciation to the labor and the craft that justify their elevated prices.
Interesting!! I should blog about it!
